Step 1

Choose a GIF

Select an animated GIF from your device. Files can be up to 50MB.

Step 2

Run the analysis

Read the frame structure and timing without decoding image patches.

Step 3

Use the result

Download nothing, compress an oversized GIF, or continue to Face Swap.

GIF metadata explained

What this GIF analyzer checks

The analyzer reads the GIF structure and timing data in your browser. It does not need to render every frame into a full RGBA image, so the result focuses on the metadata you need for troubleshooting, compression, and Face Swap compatibility.

Format
The GIF signature and version declared in the file header.
File size
The exact local file size, plus whether it fits the 20MB Face Swap input limit.
Dimensions
The logical canvas width and height used by the animation.
Frame count
The number of image frames stored in the GIF structure.
Duration
The sum of the delays assigned to all animation frames.
Average FPS
Frame count divided by total duration; useful as a summary, not a per-frame rule.
Frame delay
The shortest and longest time that individual frames remain visible.
Loop behavior
Whether the GIF plays once, repeats a set number of times, or loops forever.

Understand GIF timing, FPS, and loops

GIF timing is stored as a delay for each frame. Average FPS converts the complete loop into one familiar number, but it can hide intentional pauses or uneven timing.

Loop behavior is separate from duration. A three-second GIF may play once, repeat a fixed number of times, or restart forever depending on its loop extension.

Similar minimum and maximum delaysPlayback uses a mostly consistent rhythm.Average FPS is a useful summary.
A large delay rangeSome frames intentionally pause longer than others.Inspect timing before changing FPS.
Very short total durationThe loop may feel abrupt or flicker when repeated.Preview the full loop, not one frame.
One stored frameThe file is a static GIF, not an animation.Do not use an animated workflow.

Check a GIF before Face Swap

A compatible target must have a valid GIF structure, contain more than one frame, and stay at or below the 20MB Face Swap limit. The analyzer reports these checks separately so a filename alone does not decide compatibility.

Diagnose a GIF before compressing it

Large dimensions, many frames, a long duration, or high frame frequency can all increase file size. Use the report to choose whether width, FPS, or both should be reduced instead of applying the strongest preset immediately.

Browser-local processing

Useful results without an upload

Your GIF is processed on your device. Nothing is stored on our media servers, and you can leave the page when the download is complete.

Check timing, not only FPS

Large differences between frame delays can explain uneven playback.

Watch the 20MB limit

Face Swap accepts an animated GIF or WebP file up to 20MB.

Keep loops short

Shorter loops process faster and are easier to share across messaging apps.

Inspect animation status

A one-frame GIF is a static image even when its filename ends in .gif.

Questions about this tool

Does the GIF analyzer upload my file?

No. The GIF structure is read inside your browser, and the media file is not sent to our servers.

What does GIF frame delay mean?

Frame delay is the time a frame stays visible before the next one appears. Uneven delays can make an animation feel jerky even when the frame count is high.

Why does my GIF play only once?

Its loop extension may be missing or set to a finite repeat count. The analyzer reports whether the file plays once, repeats a set number of times, or loops forever.

Can every animated GIF be used for face swap?

GIF Face Swap accepts animated GIF or WebP files up to 20MB. A short loop with a visible, unobstructed face usually produces the clearest result.

How does the analyzer calculate average GIF FPS?

Average FPS is the frame count divided by the total animation duration. Individual frames can still use different delays, so the minimum and maximum delay values provide important context.

Can this GIF analyzer repair a broken file?

No. It reports readable structure, timing, animation status, and compatibility. It does not rewrite or repair damaged GIF data.
